23 vegetarian Indian restaurant dishes you can make at home

Happy Friday everyone! I hope the week has treated you well and you have exciting plans for the weekend.

Today’s recipe collection post is all about Indian restaurant classics. You know, those dishes that you would never see in India but are pretty much on every single Indian restaurant/takeaway menu in the country. Well, authentic or not, they taste totally amazing so it’s no wonder they’ve become so popular.

Speaking of which, if you are a vegetarian or vegan, don’t you find that Indian restaurants are a real winner when it comes to veggie food? Even the tiny takeaway in the village where I live has an extensive list of vegetarian dishes which is so great to see.

Anyway, in today’s collection we have starters (somebody please make me those paneer tikka kebabs!), main courses, the all-important sundries and dips too.

Fancy turning your kitchen into a curry house this weekend? Here are some of my favourite Indian restaurant dishes you can prepare at home:

Starters

Vegetable samosas

Sundries

Naan bread

Garlic and coriander naan from KO Rasoi

Chapatis from Avocado Pesto [vegan]

Dips

Tomato chutney

When it comes to Indian dishes, I am totally partial to paneer – love the delicate taste, love the texture – but I could also overdose on garlicky tarka dahl.
What are your Indian restaurant favourites? Have you tried to replicate them any of them at home?
